Eyes And Madness is a piano trio whose music is based on free improvisation, without ever losing sight of melody and impromptu composition.

In this new work, the trio tell a story inspired by three key elements found in Vasily Kandinskij's 1923 painting "Composition VIII": the tension represented by triangular shapes, the calm evoked by horizontal lines, and the movement created by circles.

“I think of A Dreamy Journey as the story of a journey made up of several stories that blend into a single narrative ﬂow. As in a rhapsody, a protagonist meets and talks about nature, mountains and the river ﬂowing gently in between, beginning a long journey towards the waterfalls. Along the way, it meets love, the storm, gentle drops falling from the trees after the storm, unbridled running and chasing, colors, lines, chaos and mystery, calm and introspective reﬂection, evolution. Eyes And Madness is a set of sounds that come together in a single body; through freedom and the impromptu sharing of ideas through improvisation, it meets new elements along its journey, experiencing them and telling their purest and most natural essence through music. The beauty of being surprised again and again, note after note, for that new encounter along a free line that I feel tends towards inﬁnity.

Eyes And Madness è un piano trio che basa la sua musica sulla libera improvvisazione, senza perdere mai di vista l’elemento melodico e l’idea della composizione estemporanea.
In questo nuovo lavoro, la storia narrata dal trio si ispira a tre elementi fondamentali presenti nelle linee del dipinto di Vasilij Kandinskij del 1923, “Composizione VIII”: la tensione rappresentata dalle linee che compongono le ﬁgure triangolari, il sentimento di “calma” delle linee orizzontali e il movimento invece rappresentato dalle linee circolari.

“Immagino A Dreamy Journey come la storia di un viaggio composto a sua volta da un insieme di storie che conﬂuiscono in un unico ﬂusso narrativo in cui, come in una rapsodia, un unico protagonista incontra e racconta della natura, delle montagne e del ﬁume che tra di esse scorre dolcemente compiendo il suo lungo tragitto ancora ben lontano dalle cascate verso cui si dirige, dell’amore, della tempesta, di gocce che leggere cadono dagli alberi dopo la tempesta, di corse e rincorse sfrenate, di colori, linee, caos e mistero, di calma e riﬂessione introspettiva, di evoluzione.
Eyes And Madness è un insieme di suoni che conﬂuiscono in un corpo unico e che, attraverso la libertà e la condivisione estemporanea di idee con cui si approccia all’improvvisazione, incontra elementi nuovi durante il suo viaggio vivendoli e raccontandoli in musica nella loro essenza più pura e naturale. La bellezza di sorprendersi sempre e nuovamente, nota dopo nota, per quel nuovo incontro lungo una linea libera che avverto tendere a inﬁnito. Mi piace immaginare anche le inﬁnite storie presenti nelle linee e nei colori del Kandinskij degli anni ’20, ancora oggi, un centinaio di anni dopo, e per tutti gli altri anni a venire” (Alberto Dipace)
